That is exactly what I thought when I saw them in the shop. Lined, washable with actually not bad pearl accent buttons, well cut and flattering, I am immensely impressed especially that they came from Primark.
For a while, I was also on a hunt for a cropped white jumper. Most jumpers nowadays seem to be oversized or end mid-hip, the worst possible place which makes you look short and boxy. But eventually, I have found one that will go with everything high waisted that I possed.
The boots are old but unusual. Loosely woven and almost summery. The earring and the bracelets have obviously pearls theme to match the buttons.
That was my Christmas outfit since Christmas was cancelled and we were just staying home.
Altering clothes does pay off. As I have mentioned before the pair of the long shorts used to be just a pair of ill-fitted trousers. But after some crafty alterations, it became shorts that I actually look forward to wearing. They are in my favourite colour- navy blue. Personally I think blondes look better in that colour as supposed to ever-existing black. The cardigan is also navy blue. Navy blue with shades of brown creates a very classical combination that I intend to reuse over and over again. I hope the addition of the vintage belt makes it more ornated.
So, I’m stuck at home. It’s pandemic out there and for the greater good, I have to stay home, so I’m doing. But if I was allowed outside that’s probably what I would be wearing. You have probably spotted a trend here: shorts cut out of trousers that I already have and not very often wear. This pair of trousers is made from quite thick fabric and the material didn’t fold nicely at the hem, so the trousers got hardly ever worn. But we do not like such items in our wardrobes, they have to perform or go or get altered. After some DIY I can wear shorts when it’s still warm but I’m also hoping to wear them with tights when it gets colder. Today I went all yellow, lighter with the top, and stronger with the accessories.
Ok, it’s all Primark look. I do find interesting pieces in this store. Most of their clothes are not so great, but some of which I have bought lasted me for years. This outfit is a bit DIYed. I was on a lookout for some decent length shorts for a while with no results. So, I have bought culottes in a summery, light material and light colour well knowing that I am not going to wear them that way, but going to shorten them to get the desired shorts. Also, the earrings started of completely gold, but I have painted them with a couple of coats of nail vanish in sagey colour. Sage goes well with pink, especially pale, also as the shorts are quite high-wasted, I have opted for the cropped version of a top, and it still hardly shows any stomach. Pink and sage accessories and the outfit is done.
